Aaron Meir's friend describes Meir's quality of always striving and driving himself towards improvement when in fact his personal qualities and achievements and spiritual growth surpass so many of us because of his great love of the world and highly evolved consciousness:
Every time you saw me,
you would say, “You look different.”
That was always the first thing.
You would notice whenever
there was anything different about me, whether I was wearing different glasses,
or was dressed differently.
One day when we met and said
“You look different”, I noticed that your head was tilted as you looked, as if
through me, which made me respond by saying “I am different. I’m always different.”
And as I said that, I
realized that we do grow and change and that we in fact are different every
day.
Perhaps it was because
you were so different to everyone else that you paid so much attention to
others, and noticed.
When we spoke, I felt
that I could speak from within myself, quietly. That allowed me to be in
myself, and you made me feel more connected to myself.
By really looking at me, noticing
and caring about me, you gave me the best gift a human can give another – the
gift of freedom to be oneself and feel accepted and loved.
You not only saw me
clearly, but gave me the gift of being truly seen.
Sitting there and talking
to you, was uplifting, because by connecting with you I felt more connected
with my own soul.
Because you had the gift
of seeing so sharply what was in front of you, you could really help people.
But I also realized that
this special sensitivity is what made you so vulnerable.
But behind that quality
of being truly caring and compassionate, I saw someone who also had a need.
You also had a story.
With so much depth of observation and sensitivity how could you not?
What’s more, you really
wanted to tell your story.
Perhaps that need to show
yourself; that intense need to express yourself through writing, acting and
music expressed a thirst to share something with someone who you couldn`t find.
How desolate it must be
for such a soul that the universe can neither understand nor validate.
Neither your power to
observe or comfort others have diminished what you suffer in this world.
You were not given the
time to fulfill what you wanted.
I had the feeling when
you gathered with your friends that by talking we were keeping you alive.
In case you`re watching
and seeing., maybe your friends can gather and share stories about you, or do
good things in your merit to keep you here, at least keep your memory alive.
You wanted to make a film
about your life- Elliot has footage of you and is doing that.
You wanted to write books
and to help people- we can do that in your merit.
I need to keep finding positive
things to distract myself from your passing- because you won’t be able to.
Otherwise an entire
universe of your qualities, as well you yourself have been lost.
That we are still here,
and have the honor to do the work – on your behalf:
It behooves us to
preserve those qualities that you taught us; by doing it in your merit and with
love.
Do you realized that in
that short time you fulfilled a dream that most can never dream about?
With all your quirks,
your raspy (unforgettable) voice, you got out there - onto the stage, and you always
remained yourself, no matter where you were.
You improvised, and you
were so funny and sharp.
You told it like it is, in
life, and on the stage too – you made people laugh, and you were loved.
Your generosity was to
help us all accept ourselves.
And to do that, to give
us something that you never had, - love and acceptance.
That’s the closest thing
to self- transcendence.
Such qualities lighten up
the universe.
Those of us who merited
to experience the qualities that radiated through you, - must now continue that
mission, by doing the work on your behalf.
